The global demand for raw materials is increasing. The most important process for extracting ores such as lithium, cobalt or raw earths is flotation. But the development and testing of new reagents in industrial flotation is expensive and costs a lot of time. The SAB-funded project CoSilFlot+ simplifies the process with an innovative workflow, saving chemical reagent manufacturers and mining companies time and money.
Borhane Ben Said, research assistant at HiF (Freiberg), validates with this project the workflow to for optimizing and scaling up new reagents in flotation processes. The CoSilFlot+ approach enables the implementation, optimization and scale-up of reagent systems in flotation plants with minimal production downtime. It also reduces the risk of working under unsuitable conditions, avoiding operational downtime due to optimization trials and minimizing financial losses.
