Transfer practice at HZDR
Transfer has been successfully practiced at the HZDR for many years. We have put together some examples of success in the area of transfer at the HZDR that show you how the transfer from science to industry – from idea to application – has already worked. So that you can imagine where the journey can still lead…
Since 2012, HZDR has recorded over 20 spin-offs, significantly supported by the Transfer and Innovation department. These include start-ups such as:
1st place at the Saxon Transfer Award 2021: Dr. Jörg Steinbach from HZDR and ROTOP for the joint production of iodine-123-labeled radiopharmaceuticals for the diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease.
2nd place at the Saxon Transfer Award 2023 and Special Prize for Technology Mediation: Dr. Richard Gloaguen (HIF) and TheiaX GmbH (a spin-off of HZDR) for their non-invasive raw material exploration.
3rd place at the Saxon Digital Award 2024 for TheiaX GmbH.
Strategic partnerships with industry and companies ensure our long-term success in technology transfer. These include both customer relationships maintained through HZDR Innovation GmbH and collaborations of the Innovation Labs or individual institutes for research with application-oriented development. Some successful strategic partnerships include:
– PRIMETALS Technologies
– ROTOP Pharmaka GmbH
– Stadtentwässerung Dresden (cooperation agreement with the Innovation Lab CLEWATEC)

HZDR-Strategy 2030+
As a large, multi-program research center, the HZDR conducts internationally recognized, application-oriented fundamental research to find answers to the great challenges of our time. As an attractive employer, it is our aim to contribute to a future worth living for future generations in Germany and beyond.
In order to fully exploit our potential, we have developed a roadmap for the next ten years under the motto “Moving Research to the NEXT Level for the NEXT Gens” — the HZDR Strategy 2030+.
Building on the Centre strategy, the transfer strategy sets the following objectives:
Funding opportunities
A lot is possible in transfer – also with funding
A variety of funding programs and calls for proposals enable transfer in many different forms. Our innovation managers are happy to advise you on which funding programs are currently available and which are suitable for your research area or idea.
